Annabananna Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Personally, I think eight of wands and knight of wands are the typical cards that indicate travel. What are your thoughts?
DanielJUK Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 I've moved this thread to individual card meanings where it will fit better for this type of discussion 😉Â
divineaura Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 I often see the 6 of Swords as traveling or moving somewhere else.
Strength8 Posted March 31, 2024 Posted March 31, 2024 The World, The Fool, The Wheel -these can signify travel
Misterei Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 (edited) Knight wands = travel or moving in general 6 swords = travel often over water, passage away from difficulties 8 cups = spiritual retreat / pilgrimage, or travel in the mountains world = international travel for trade or business  Edited April 1, 2024 by Misterei
Chariot Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 (edited) So much depends on context.  All of the 'travel' cards can mean something else, if your question isn't specifically about travel, or doesn't actually deal with travel.  As usual, the question itself, and the details you have asked for will determine whether a card points to travel or not. Spreads are just as important as the cards themselves, I reckon.  However, if the trip you are planning—or are just about to leave on—is hopeful and fun, I'd say The Fool (upright) is certainly a travel card.  (It can also mean travel if it's reversed, but the trip might not go well, or may not end up happening at all.) I used to feel The Fool's energy, back when I did travel for fun ...setting off with high hopes, reasonably prepared but not overly fussy, looking forward to the trip itself, and eager to experience new environments.  I would probably not apply The Fool to a situation where I'm going someplace I've been before many times (returning home, to visit friends and relatives) —or it's a trip with a particular purpose (a necessary appointment.)  For me, there is always a sense of freedom and adventure with The Fool. All of the Knight cards indicate action, so they can all be about travel and trips—taking into account the energy of each suit.  (Including the semi-static Knight of Pentacles, meaning a trip undertaken in a methodical manner.)  I usually interpret a Knight to mean movement of some kind.  Depending on its position in a spread, can indicate travel for me ...or travellers coming to me (visitors.)  Knights indicate the energy underpinning the trip, rather than how the trip will be actually be made ...car, plane, boat, long distance, etc.    Edited April 1, 2024 by Chariot
Yola Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 Hello @Annabananna, how are you? 🙂 I agree with my colleagues' contribution.  Within the major arcana, the Chariot (small journeys) and the World (travels that go beyond geographical markings) would be my main suggestions. Additionally also 2 of Wands, in my opinion, follows the same reasoning as the World in overcoming geographical limits. I see in all Knights the power and potential of a trip, displacement, transport, locomotion. And... Visually, as a minor indicator, I also see in the RWS deck the indication of trips in the representation of boats in 6 of Swords, 2 of Pentacles, 3 of Wands and King of Cups.  What do you think? I hope it's useful!  Â
Misterei Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 (edited) It's fun to see different takes on travel cards. Like I never thought of Fool, King Cups, or wheel! I live in my own little bubble and mostly use 3 of the 4 I mentioned. [kn wands, 6 sw, 8 cups]  Chariot to me is specific to cars or the vehicles of travel [boat plane etc] more than the travel itself ... but yeah I can see it. I get 2 pents sometimes relating to travel, like if the person has 2 homes, or 2 jobsites, or a long distance relationship and they're going back and forth. I get wheel sometimes for the long distance relationship ... but it's the connection & separation in the relationship itself more than the travel it takes to see the person.  as @Chariot said, context is a factor. Sometimes the REASON for the travel is more pertinent ... if that makes sense. Like in 2 coins ... they KNOW they gotta drive to multiple job sites already ... they don't ask tarot about that. They ask about their upcoming vacation, if it will go well. Which reminds me one I forgot to mention: SUN Sometimes I get Sun if the person plans a vacation to the South or in a sunny destination. Or any travel to the south. Edited April 2, 2024 by Misterei
Raggydoll Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 The actual deck matters. For instance, in Stella’s tarot, it’s the Prince of Cups that is the ‘travel by sea’ card for me Â
