Honney Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Hello guys, is there anyone who uses Steampunk tarot from Barbara Moore? I am little bit confused with this deck. It is beautiful set of cards, but sometimes I am not sure, how to interpret them. Because in her book, there are some discrepancies between her descriptions and RW tarot. What kind of interpretation do you use? Your own?Mixture of Barbara's instruction and RW? Only RW? Thank you for your insights <3
gregory Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 I use my own. But with any deck there will be discrepancies. Work with the DECK. See what each card says to you. If you try to work just with learned meanings - well, there's no point having a card to look at - anyone could just look it all up, like a dictionary. (But I have to say I have never had trouble with one single word Barbara has ever written. Except the one occasion where she counted some candles wrong ! If I were in doubt and had to make a choice, I'd run with Barbara every time.)
PageOfCups Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 This deck has the best 2 of Cups card ever. I feel like since this is a themed deck, as with many themed decks, the author(s) of the book took some liberties because they assume you've already used an RWS deck and read some books aimed at beginners for. I think the book is entertaining and provides a different viewpoint/interpretion (read the descriptions for the 2 of Cups and the Page of Cups, for instance). But I wouldn't use the book for a "fundamentals of tarot" book in a a Tarot 101 class.
CharlotteK Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 A mixture of Barbara and my own. I like this deck a lot and am a huge Barbara fan. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
